Lithuanian military experts assist investigating incident in Georgia

 This weekend two aircraft and radar experts of Lithuanian Armed Forces left for Georgia where they will join international group of experts conducting independent investigation regarding Georgian surveillance drone shot-up over Abkhazia.

Lithuania is sending experts as response to Georgia’s request to allocate capabilities for investigation of incident - review of available material and settling the facts – that happened on April 20.

Despite Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia, Poland, Sweden, the US and the UK responded to the request to help investigate circumstances of the incident, according to Georgian information.

International experts’ team will start working in Tbilisi on April 29.

“Exhaustive and objective independent investigation done by international experts would help finding circumstances of the incident and prevent both ungrounded interpretations and speculations from appearing and similar incidents of recurring in the future,” said Undersecretary of the National Defence Ministry for defence policy and international relations Renatas Norkus.
