Seven ships of Lithuanian and Latvian naval forces take part in the Baltic Fortress exercise organised for Baltic naval forces in the Latvian territorial waters and an exclusive economic zone on May 2629.
Lithuania is represented by Lithuanian Naval Force frigate Aukstaitis (F12), command and supply boat Jotvingis (N42) and mine hunter Kursis (M51), as well as four members of Lithuanian Naval Force currently attending naval captain courses in Riga. Lithuanian, Latvian and Estonian officers attending courses not only take part in the Baltic Fortress but are also organisers of the exercise.
Exercise scenario will include improvement of firing, re-supply at sea, radar search, demining, navigation, search and rescue, submarine warfare, and ship apprehension at sea skills, as well as imitation of contemporary terrorist threats. |
