NATO Allied Force Commander visit Lithuania’s mission in Ghowr

Allied Joint Force Commander Brunssum Gen. Egon Ramms visited Lithuanian-led Ghowr Provincial Reconstruction Team, in Chaghcharan, August 29.
Meeting with the leadership of PRT-7 and representatives of the Lithuanian Special Mission Afghanistan in Chaghcharan, Gen. Ramms was briefed on security situation in the province, and plans and activity of the PRT and the Special Mission. The General paid particular attention to the Children’s Day Centre of constructions project coordinated by Lithuania and supported by the “Women Brunssum” organisation.

New medical team of Ghowr PRT-7 successfully tackled their first task by examining and providing medical help for 111 women, 96 men, and 95 children in Sare Ghalmin village, August 27. Personnel of the new team consists of one Ukrainian and five Lithuanians.

Commander Land Force of Lithuanian Armed Forces Jonas Vytautas Zukas took part as guest in celebration of the Armed Forces Day of Poland held in Warsaw.
This is the 88 anniversary of the historical battle for Warsaw and 16 anniversary of the beginning of fundamental reorganisation of Poland’s Armed Forces and restoration of the old traditions of the army.

Security and defence experts of the European Parliament visit Lithuania

Chairperson of Subcommittee on Security and Defence of the European Parliament Karl von Wogau and Vice-Chairperson Justas Paleckis will come to Lithuania on a formal visit on August 26.
Members of the European Parliament will visit LAF Aviation Base in Siauliai where NATO fighters on the Baltic air-policing mission. High guests will meet with members of German contingent currently holding the mission and will hear a presentation on tasks and proceeding of the mission; later they will observe take-off of fighters for training flight.
