Col. Leonardas Bakaitis assumed the position of Undersecretary of Ministry Defence on October 28. His area of responsibility will cover human resources policy, legal matters and administration.
A new post of MoND Undersecretary was established as part of enhancement of the MoND management system. Part of areas of administration were transferred to the new position from the MoND State Secretary in order to allow the top-ranking civil servant to allot more attention to strategic objectives. The new Undersecretary will administer policy of recruitment, preparation and management of human resources, legislation and legal representation, administration, archives, military service, etc.
Before entering the present office Col. L. Bakaitis worked as Head of MoND Personnel and Social Security Department. He also had headed Lithuanian Armed Forces Military Medicine Centre and Lithuanian Riflemen Union, had served in the Volunteer National Defence Service, and worked as educator and administrator.
Acting Undersecretary for Defence Policy and International Relations Andrius Krivas is appointed to the position permanently from October 28. Before current appointment A.Krivas led MoND International Relations and Operations Department. A. Krivas was delegated to the Ministry of National Defence by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in April 2008. A.Krivas worked in the MoND International Relations Department from 1993 to 2001 and headed it afterwards. |
