Danish troops on NATO Baltic Air-policing mission held guests day at the Aviation Base

February 9, Danish Air Contingent guarding Baltic airspace held a guests day at the LAF Aviation Base in Siauliai.
Denmark’s Ambassador in Lithuania Laurids Mikaelsen, leading officials of Lithuanian Armed Forces and Ministry of National Defence – Minister Rasa Jukneviciene, Vice Minister Vytautas Umbrasas, Undersecretary for Defence Policy and International Relations Andrius Krivas, Chief of Defence Staff Rear Admiral Kestutis Macijauskas, Mayor of Siauliai Town Genadijus Miksys, Head of Siauliai District Rimundas Domarkas, and other representatives, were guests of the event. Ambassadors of foreign countries and NATO members as well as members of Parliament were also invited to attend the event.

January 25, new patrol boat P12 coming from Denmark piered in Lithuanian Naval Force Flotilla in Klaipeda. The boat with a crew of 22 led by captain Lt. Laimonas Banys was met by Commander Lithuanian Naval Force Capt.(N) Olegas Marinicius and Commander of the LNF Naval Flotilla Cdr. Arunas Mockus.

“Quill of the Year” award delivered to the US war reporter

January 21, war reporter from the USA Michael Yon was given “Quill of the Year 2008” award established by the leadership of the Lithuanian Ministry of National Defence and the Armed Forces. Colonel Antanas Jurgaitis, Defence, Army, Air and Naval Force Attaché of the Republic of Lithuania to the USA and Canada, gave the award and a letter from the Chief of Defence of Lithuania to the reporter in his office based in Washington DC (USA).
The reporter was awarded for the article he published in his website describing Lithuanian military personnel serving in Afghanistan in an original manner.
