Transformation of Lithuanian Armed Forces: Quo vadis?
Dear Colleagues, Ladies and Gentlemen,
Transformation is our daily bread and butter. It is a demanding endeavour with no permanent solution, only interim goals and benchmarks. In other words, it is a bridge that we are constantly building between our current defence policy and the future.
Today we are facing an ever changing security and military environment. We should acknowledge traditional conventional threats are no less important than nuclear, terrorist or non traditional security threats in energy or cyberspace areas. This has a profound effect for the role and functions the Armed Forces have to take.

Mr. Secretary General, dear Colleagues,
Ladies and Gentlemen,
It is a great pleasure to welcome you all in Vilnius.
The principles of collectiveness, indivisible security and solidarity are the foundation of our Alliance. It is symbolical that we have an opportunity to discuss NATO issues here in Vilnius a city, which during its long history has been a place of dialogue among different cultures, religions and nations.
