On 7 February, in his letter to the Commander of the Lithuanian Land Forces, Brigadier General Arvydas Pocius, the Commanding General Multinational Division (South East) Major General Joanthon Riley thanks Lithuanian troops for their assistance in providing a secure environment for free election. On 30 January, for the first time in 50 years, a free democratic election was held in Iraq.

"I must tell you that the efforts of your troops, and the officers and NCOs on my staff, were magnificent. /…/ The efforts of your contingent helped to produce that success, " reads the letter.
